[Hilbert's getting a present for Hilda! First and foremost is the card which he made, a hand-drawn Victini on the front of it, and that's laying on a wrapped gift of a scarf. At least it's not hideous?
... The Victini, on the other hand, has effort but no real talent in it.]
Merry Christmas, Hilda!
I'm sorry about the Victini. Who knew that such a simple Pokémon could give you so much trouble? Anyway, I wasn't sure what to get you, so I thought that you'd probably like something practical rather than fancy. You seem like that kind of girl. I hope you wear it!
I wish we were home though. It doesn't feel like Christmas without all the lights and fireworks, but it isn't so bad here. Maybe you and I can hang out on Christmas? I'm upstairs in 904 and I won't be here in the morning and some of the early afternoon, but pop by after then and maybe we can have an early dinner together. How about it?
[So, later, she will be knocking on his door. The scarf's wrapped up in her free hand, concealing Victini's Pokeball. She would've worn it if she had had to go outside, but as it was...]
[He throws open the door, the widest and most friendly of grins on his face - though there's a hint of tiredness in his eyes. He's been doing a lot lately and had someone over early and... Yeah.]
Hi, Hilda! Your place is a long ways away from mine, so I hope you're not too tired out? Come on in, make yourself at home, I'll get drinks. It's too bad you couldn't wear your scarf. Do you like it? I thought it'd look good on you. Did you like the drawing, too? I know it's not the best, but I like it.
[He'll usher her inside as he rambles, whether she's coming in of her own accord or not.]
[Mm, that is a nice idea indeed. He doesn't even try to hide his grin coming back with two cups of water, just nods for her to follow him and going to his room.
It's lived in, but pretty tidy. At least it isn't as bad as when his twin kittens and deer went zombie-wild. Heheh. Take the glass when you sit on his bed.]
I'm letting Eeks handle the cooking, though it's just a little something my mom makes for Christmas dinner... It'll be done in fifteen, I think. He's pretty good at it too.
[She'll just snoop around his room then. One can tell a lot about someone from their room, and she's determined to find out more about Hilbert. He's trustworthy and a great guy, but he's (transparently) hiding things from her.
She'll be back on his bed, disappointed at not finding anything super secret, when he comes back though.]
[Like she'd find anything his room. No, all of his stuff is in his head. He wishes he didn't have to hide things from her, but she hid things from him first and there's just not that level of Trust to tell her things unless she asks about them first.
Hilbert returns with Eeks in tow, holding two plates of what seems to be some kind of meat pie(???) and forks. He grins sheepishly and sets them on his bed, not even wondering if she could've snooped around his room while he was gone.]
The animals here are just as weird as the fruits and vegetables, so while it's not... you know, fancy or anything like that, I just remembered what it was like back home and wanted to try it. I think it'll taste good.
[It'll taste better than it looks at least. It's not full-out grey goopy ick, but it's not exactly what you think of when you imagine "Mom's pot pies" either. Slightly blackened too.]
[Hilda wonders if it's edible, but she isn't one to look a gift Blitzle in the mouth; she'll take one of the plates and a fork and poke at it while they talk.]
I'm surprised you can even cook. I didn't really think you'd do it if you have a mom around.
[He'll dig right in, thank you, though she should take note that his face is scrunching a little at the taste of the "pie" rather than her question. Which he'll answer as soon as he swallows it a second time.
If Eeks notices either of their reactions, it doesn't do anything about them. Just yawns and goes to sleep in Hilbert's tablet. Tiring stuff, cooking is!]
I didn't really, but Mom never stopped me from dragging a chair over and helping her bake at least... [This next part is mumbled but totally audible.] Maybe some salt and pepper would spring it up..?
Those are pretty good, but they're a little hard to keep in the warmer weather. Who would've thought that potato salad sandwiches wouldn't hold up in summer? Sheesh. [Despite the complaint, he's smiling pretty fondly. Sadly, maybe, but definitely fondly.]
I'm glad I got a lot of prize money, because as my team grew bigger [in every way possible] they costed more to feed and they were pretty into the food I bought for myself.
Like... [Man how do you ask things like this. "Hey did a weird green-haired guy approach you at any time?" Or maybe "Team Plasma was said to be stealing Pokémon and all, so I was worried you got hit too."
Hilbert makes an odd gesture though his hands, trying to figure it out. The latter sounds right enough. He'll be watching her carefully too.]
Well, you know how Team Plasma was around Unova preaching about Pokémon liberation and all? A lot of their members were stealing Pokémon, so... I was wondering if you'd seen anything odd like that. Or maybe a giant white dragon flying towards the League at some point of time. You know. Something weird like that.

Your best battle partner and friend,

But this is good. She's been meaning to ask him a few things.]
Sounds good to me. I'll be around later.

That's great! I'll see you then.

[Look she managed to handle all of his questions. She'll gladly make herself at home as well, plopping on the couch. Oh, but --]
...This isn't going to bother your unitmates, right?
no subject
Nah, but maybe we should... Move someplace more private? [Like his actual room--] Anyway, I'm glad you two liked everything!

I'm amazed. Victini'd probably end up eating it before it finishes making it.
[Upon hearing its name, Victini lets itself out, only to find Hilda's insulting it. It chirrups, somewhat disappointed. Hilda chuckles.]
Sorry, Victini, but it's true.

Sounds like something you'd do, as much as I know about you. Impatient and hungry.
[He's only teasing, really!]
Eeks feeds off of electricity.

I hear Joltik does the same thing. I found a lot of them on Deeri when we were going through Chargestone Cavern.
no subject
That's pretty cool. Did you catch one?

[She misses her big old Scolipede.]

[Oh, but... He stands and sets his untouched cup aside.]
Hold on, let me check on Eeks.
[The Rotom tends to think that "raw" is "cooked" sometimes.]

I'm not stellar at cooking either, so I ended up buying a lot of soups and sandwiches when I was in town.

[...She doesn't want to talk about her Scolipede or his instincts, or her Mandibuzz's tendency to follow him.]
Deeri mostly ate grass. I guess I had a pretty weird bunch of pokemon, huh?
[Plus she really needed all that money to feed herself.]

[Bribery. And comradeship. Eating together is a surefire way to build it.]
So... Did anything, you know, weird happen to you when you were out catching Pokémon and all? Because I know you didn't just stay around Nimbasa.
no subject
As it is, though --] Weird? Like what?
[Smooth.]
